Looking down the lakes length
Mtn-biking, Hiking, Horses, swimming. Expect to see hawks and migratory waterfowl, Arrowleaf/Balsam Root, Bullrushes, Yarrow. Stay on the 2 rut trail with BLM markers to follow lake south to where you can access it. Roughly 6 mile ride with many variations. Within one three mile stretch you will be in 5 habitat types. Lake habitat/wetland habitat/grassland habitat/riparian habitat (transition tween water/upland)/Ponderosa Pine habitat. I had a lot of fun here and you could spend an entire day if you brought a picnic.
This is a thirty-minute drive from Spokane. From Interstate 90 east of Sprague, WA, take Fishtrap Exit 254. Turn east, crossing over I-90, and drive 2 miles south. You will pass radio towers on right and then drive below railroad underpass. Turn left at Fishtrap campground. Drive 7/10 miles on gravel road to BLM access area on right. Here you will see a BLM access sign for no motorcycles, yes on bikes/hikes/horses.

No young children as trail is rough and you would have to watch kids constantly because of the cliff.
