Columbia Gorge Hotel

What:  This hotel is definitely special. Built in 1920, it has a long and rich history. Classic music wafts continuous, the fireplace always burns, the furniture is all antique, as the formal gardens, trees, and waterfall surround. The food is great as is the service. The view from most windows is over the Columbia River to the cliffs on the other side. If you need to stay indoors, this place is worth considering. Learn more at their site: Columbia Gorge Hotel.

Where:  Take I90 West to Ritzville and then take 395 south to the Tri-cities. Continue on 395/82 to Umatilla and then take 84 on the Oregon side. Continue to Hood River and take the Westcliff exit which has signs to the hotel.

Cautions:  $200/night minimum, but includes free breakfast of 5 courses. There was so much food that we had to get up and leave before the last course came.

List:  Also see Beacon Rock, Stonehenge model, Horse Thief Lake, Maryhill Museum, nice map, & Klickitat County for additional stops along this beautiful drive.Email Us
